Get your new high-efficiency air conditioning system installed at competitive rates.

Choosing the correct central air conditioner size is one of the most important parts of a successful AC installation. Many homeowners assume a larger system will cool better, but an oversized or undersized unit can actually reduce efficiency, increase energy costs, and create uneven indoor temperatures. Proper sizing helps your system cool effectively, manage humidity, and operate efficiently during Mississauga’s warm and humid summers.

Many online AC sizing guides rely on basic BTU-per-square-foot formulas. While these estimates may provide a rough starting point, they are often inaccurate for homes in Ontario because they ignore several important factors that affect cooling demand.
For example, two homes with the same square footage may require completely different AC sizes depending on:

As of 2023, Canada adopted updated efficiency standards that align with SEER2 testing procedures for new air conditioning systems. SEER2 stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2 and measures how efficiently an AC system operates under more realistic conditions.
Higher SEER2 ratings generally mean:
Many modern central AC systems installed in Mississauga now meet or exceed current Canadian efficiency requirements, helping homeowners improve comfort while reducing operating costs.
The table below shows general central AC sizing estimates commonly used as a starting point before a full Manual J calculation is completed.
| Home Size (sq ft) | Estimated AC Size |
|---|---|
| 1,000–1,200 sq ft | 1.5–2 tons |
| 1,200–1,500 sq ft | 2–2.5 tons |
| 1,500–2,000 sq ft | 2.5–3 tons |
| 2,000–2,500 sq ft | 3–4 tons |
| 2,500–3,000 sq ft | 4–5 tons |
These estimates may vary depending on insulation, window placement, ceiling height, and overall home efficiency. A professional evaluation is still the best way to determine the ideal central AC size for your Mississauga home.

The ideal system should match your home’s cooling needs, energy efficiency goals, and budget while providing reliable comfort during Ontario’s warmer months. Factors such as AC size, installation costs, and brand quality all play an important role in long-term performance and operating efficiency.

Tamas was prompt, friendly and professional! Great experience.
Tamer did a great job tuning up my furnace this fall. Very quick and reliable service! He's an absolute pro!
I needed to find a new, local HVAC provider. I wanted a local company that would provide honest, experienced and personal service. Tamas Mechanical checks all the boxes. Tamer and his team are very responsive, professional and transparent on the work and pricing. Tamas is now my go-to for service and repairs. I will definitely recommend them to friends and clients. A++++
It was time to relace my 27 year old mid efficiency furnace to a high efficiency furnace. Tamas Mechanical did a great job installing the new furnace. They also had to install new abs pipes through the ceiling to vent outside. They were able to do that, ensuring that minimal cutting was done to the drywall. Everthing was done so well , it looks great and the furnace works great. Tamar is a really nice guy and he makes sure that he keeps you involved in the process as the work is being done. Thank you so much Tamar and Marcel for all of the hard work you both did. I feel safe, warm and happy!
I would definitely recommend Tamas Mechanical. They are professional, personable, affordable and efficient.
Professional, efficient, courteous, on time and on budget. Good job overall.
Tamer responded to my “no heat” situation in two hours and had it up and running in no time.
Tamer was excellent in diagnosing and fixing a complicated furnace issue we had. This was not my first time using Tamer and it won’t be my last. He is our go to guy for HVAC. Very professional, conscientious and good at what he does. Would highly recommend.
Tamas Mechanical provided great service. Was able to get a quote over the phone with a few pictures and have them completed 2 days later. Amazing work!
I hired Tamas Mechanical Inc., for furnace and duct cleaning. Tamer’s team, Mahdi and Blessing, did a great job. Mahdi was careful and efficient with his work. I also appreciated that they were respectful of us and cleaned up after the service. Tamer was very responsive when I was inquiring and booking. Had a smooth and easy experience with them. I highly recommend these guys and would hire them again in the future.
Tamer was a helpful guy. Helped fix my problem within a couple of hours. Would recommend him for any hvac issues.
Had a great experience with this company. I was having a BBQ at my new house in a couple of days and needed an HVAC company to install a new natural gas line for my BBQ. I put a request in Homwstars and got a call from Tamas very quickly and arranged for a technician to arrive the next day and provided a quote over the phone based on some photos and measurements. Tamer was the technician and took about half a day to install the new line which worked perfectly. One small issue was that my fireplace pilot went out during the installatio and I couldn't relight it. But Tamer came back to do a manual light at no extra charge. Very happy with the service, price and friendliness of staff.
Tamer analyzed and cleaned the furnace quickly, which is a relief given how the temperatures are dropping. Would not hesitate to have him return (if/when required).
Tamer is great and makes sure all your equipment is in running order. Way better deal than something like Reliance. Here is the Bryant AC unit that he installed for us.
